Created by Maggie's Organics in partnership with a community development organization, named Jubilee House, and a group of refugees from Nueva Vida, Nicaragua. Jubilee House provided the capital and management. Maggie's provided the fabric, design and orders, the women provided the courageous commitment and strength to build the cooperative and run the business. Now forty-seven worker/owners of Cooperative Maquiladora Mujeres have created economic security for themselves, their community and have become the world's first worker-owned Free Trade Zone.
